RGBM
The Mares-Wienke "Reduced Gradient Bubbles Model" algorithm is the most evolved algorithm to date for preventing the formation of microbubbles. Obtained from a study done by Dr. Bruce Wienke in the Los Alamos labs on over 10,000 real dives, RGBM algorithm incorporates Deep Stop function to further increases safety without compromising dive time.
PRECAUTIONARY PROGRAM SETTINGS
Many Mares computers can be individually set and adjusted to more conservative dive profi les if needed. When you do multi-level or multiple dives during a single day, you can choose different setting levels in order to adjust your computer to a more conservative dive profile.
EASY ACCESS
The Easy Access push buttons allow the diver to operate the computer in all conditions, even when wearing thick gloves. Navigating through the computer programs is extremely simple and very intuitive, whether the computer is equipped with one, two, three or four push buttons.
SUPERIOR DISPLAY READABILITY
In order to offer easy-to-read instruments in every circumstance, Mares produces wide computer displays, with intense backlighting and high contrast displays. Featuring illuminated, oversized digits. Special attention is paid to maximize the viewing angle, to eliminate angular distortion and to always grant the best readability.
COLD WATER
Designing and engineering products for cold water diving requires maximum attention to performance, safety and technical details. Mares creates equipment specific for cold water and ice diving. Rigorous tests ensure top notch performance keeping you comfortable, warm and secure. Even the US Navy has conceded Mares to be the best equipment for extreme conditions.
SPECIAL FUNCTION MODE
Mares computers provide specialized program functions dedicated for the needs of specific divers. On the next pages, highlighted "letters" in this icon indicate that the Mares computerprovides that function. Air - Nitrox - Bottom-timer
POWERFUL BACKLIGHT
Mares computers are well known for having the strongest backlight illumination displays. This is only possible thanks to intelligent power supply management and the use of standard batteries. The display can be temporarily or permanently backlit (depending on the model) for better readability during night dives or dives with limited visibility.
USER-REPLACEABLE BATTERIES
Possibility for users to replace dead or weak batteries whenever and wherever needed. Standard batteries can be found almost anywhere around the world. You never need to abort a dive with a Mares computer because of a dead battery, and all your information is stored safely.
IDEAL FOR TRAVEL
In today’s world of travel we are strictly confined by airline weight restrictions, therefore the design of your equipment needs to encompass elements to be travel friendly. Lightweight, streamlined, easy to pack and hassle free are just some of the elements included in the gear marked for travel.
The V32 Proton Metal regulator
The high performance and optimum hose placement of V32 fully hyvernized, combined with Proton Metal second stage with oversized purge button provides the ideal regulator for travel and for cold water diving.
TRI-MATERIAL VALVE
Patented technology, conceived and created to optimize performance, safety, and reliability. This brass valve is covered with a hard PU then the head is layered olecularly with a soft PU. Tri-material (brass, soft polyurethane, and "heavy duty" polyurethane) reaches a new level of durability.
ALL METAL TECHNOLOGY
Metal second stages have superior performance than plastic second stages, especially in cold water, thanks to the high thermal conductivity that limits the freezing effect. Additional benefits are the improved durability, the longer working life and the less dry mouth breathing.
DFC - DYNAMIC FLOW CONTROL
DFC system minimizes the intermediate pressure drop during inhalation, making it possible to use a simpler and more reliable second stage. Any type of manual adjustment is not necessary, thanks to the consistency derived from first stages that guarantees a stable flow of air, even under extreme conditions.
VAD - VORTEX ASSISTED DESIGN
All Mares second stages offer the unique patented VAD system. The air bypass tube conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in center that keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths.
MESH-GRID
The patented mesh design of the second stage cover reduces the pressure of water fl owing onto the second stage diaphragm and minimizes free-flow. Even in strong currents it eliminates the need for a knob to 'de-tune' your air delivery system to stop free fl owing: Advanced Technology through basic physics.
MAX COMFORT
Comfort is always one of the primary design elements in Mares equipment. Mares through superior technology continues to research, innovate and upgrade your level of comfort before and during your dive. Equipment marked with Max Comfort bring this quality of comfort to the most up-to-date premier pinnacle.

Tri-Material Valve
The "Tri-material" valve is a Mares patented innovation, conceived and created to optimize performance, safety, and reliability over time for Mares MRT first stages. During operation, the high-pressure valve is subjected to various stresses. In traditional valves, these stresses, combined with extreme usage conditions, can cause premature wear of the valve with a consequent drop in reliability, performance, and safety. After careful study of the forces involved, the pressures that act on the surfaces of the valve, and the usage conditions to which it is subjected, Mares has created the new "Tri-material" valve (brass, soft polyurethane, and "heavy duty" polyurethane), found today on all Mares MRT first stages. This innovative technical solution guarantees maximum performance, safety, and durability for Mares first stages.
All Metal
Mares is the only manufacturer in the world to offer a complete range of regulators with the second stage cases produced entirely in metal; anti-corrosion nickel and chrome-plated brass. In cold water, metal second stages have superior performance and are safer than second stages manufactured in plastic materials, thanks to the high thermal conductivity that limits the freezing effect. When inhaling, compressed air from the first stage expands inside the second stage and creates an abrupt drop in the temperature of the air, which in cold water can drop to a few degrees above freezing. This situation, along with the natural humidity inside the second stage, can cause ice crystals to form, and when on the demand lever, can result in small air leaks and then trigger free-flow. Metal is a good conductor of heat, and makes the water surrounding the second stage act as a heating element for the air inside and prevents this opportunity for free-flow. Strange as it may seem, even at temperatures very close to the freezing point, the water is still warmer than the air expanding inside the second stage. Additional benefits of "All Metal" Mares second stages are: Improved resistance to harsh conditions, rough treatment, and abrasion : Longer working life of the product : Less dry mouth, because the humidity of exhalations condenses on the inner walls of the metal second stage and moisturizes every breath
DFC
Mares first stages are equipped with the exclusive DFC system, making it possible to minimize intermediate pressure drop during inhalation, demonstrably improving the regulator's performance in every condition, including high demand situations. This means that the regulator remains easy to breathe with, especially when you need it the most. The DFC system, by guaranteeing more stable intermediate pressure, makes it possible to use simpler, more reliable second stages. Mares regulators do not require any type of manual adjustment of the second stage, thanks to the consistency derived from first stages that guarantee a stable flow of air, even under extreme conditions.
VAD - VORTEX ASSISTED DESIGN
All Mares second stages offer the unique, patented, VAD system (Vortex Assisted Design). This unrivaled system eases breathing at all depths. The working principal is very simple. As air comes from the hose, it passes into the second stage and is conveyed directly to the mouthpiece through the by-pass tube. A "vortex" is created in the airflow as it enters the mouthpiece. In the center of this swirling air is an area of a low-pressure. This low pressure helps keep the second stage diaphragm down during inhalation, thus increasing the regulator's sensitivity and minimizing respiratory effort. Regulators with the VAD system, offer improved performance and allow for very natural and comfortable breathing. One of the main causes of ice forming in regulators is the expansion of air inside the second stage case, which causes an abrupt drop in temperature. With the VAD system, air expands inside the by-pass tube and mouthpiece, reducing the likelihood of icing.
